OUR WEEK
Reading
This week we will be reading the story "Sarah Plain and Tall". Our test on this story will be on Wednesday, April 25th. The test will assess both comprehension and the vocab. found below.
This week's vocabulary words are.....
slick--having a smooth, glossy, or slippery surface
rough--having a bumpy, knobby, or uneven surface
fetch--to go after and bring back somebody or something
batted--struck at something
buzzing--making a low, humming sound
rustle--a swishing or soft cracking sound
clattiered--made a loud rattling sound
thumped--hit in a way that made a loud dull sound
sniff--breathe in through the nose to see how something smells
prairie--a treeless, grass-covered plain in the Mid-west
Spelling
Each week (usually Monday) your child will receive two copies of one of the below lists. One copy is to remain at home for him/her to study. The other is to be returned to school. If words are highlighted, he/she will only be tested on those words. If he/she qualifies for the challenge list, all words will be tested. Our next spelling test will be Wednesday, April 25th.

Grammar
We will be working on adverbs that compare by adding -er, -est, more, or most. Our next grammar quiz will be Wednesday, April 25th.
Phonics
We will be working on compound words. Our next grammar assessment will be on Wednesday, April 25th.
Math (This information is for Mrs. Stewart's math class ONLY.)
We will be spending this week reviewing/introducing rounding, counting basic coins, place value, telling time, and addition and subtraction (with and without regrouping). We have begun multiplication. Please review basic add/sub facts with your child.
Science/Social Studies
The first half of each quarter, we will have Science. The second half will be Social Studies.
